The Room as Arena
A game room in Ludopoly is both a strategic battlefield and an economic asset. Rooms are created and owned through the Room NFT standard, which grants the holder the right to host game sessions and define the terms of participation. Owners may operate their rooms publicly, admitting any player who pays the entry fee, or privately, restricting access to a curated group.
Room Pricing
Entry fees are calculated dynamically. A formula combines a base fee, a multiplier that reflects whether the room is public or private, and a duration multiplier that adjusts for how long the session is expected to run. Private rooms carry a higher base cost, which reflects the exclusivity of the experience and compensates the room owner for restricting the potential audience. Rooms can be extended mid-session, with a discount applied to the extension but a progressive surcharge that increases with each additional extension. This mechanism discourages indefinite monopolisation of game space.
The Session Lifecycle
A room's lifecycle begins when the owner initialises it and concludes when a player successfully claims the treasure. Between those endpoints, the room operates through its travel-and-strategy phase cycle indefinitely. Players may join or leave at any point during the session, though joining mid-game means beginning without any accumulated intelligence about other players' positions.
Room NFT Economy
Room NFTs operate on a dual-identity model: each NFT has both a token identity and a room identity, which allows a single owner to manage multiple rooms simultaneously without confusion. The commercial model also allows room NFTs to be leased, so players who do not wish to manage a room permanently can offer their arena to other operators for a period and earn revenue from the sessions that take place within it.
Rewards for Room Operation
When a game session concludes, a share of the session value flows back to the room owner. Additionally, players who discover hidden cards within a room earn free cards as a reward for their exploration. This creates a layered incentive structure in which both room owners and active players are rewarded for contributing to the vitality of the game ecosystem.
